This is about the drought in California and how little water we have left. According to the LA Times we have about one year of water left in California any many of the water reserves are really low.
It's really shocking that California supposedly only has one year of water left. However, after watching the video comparing Israel's similar situation to California's drought, I am wondering if the whole idea of desalination plants across CA will work. Will they supply enough for the whole state? Also, I learned that the plant in Carlsbad (going to be the largest one in the U.S.), is expected to produce 50 million gallons of water a day for San Diego County. Even though this is very beneficial, it still costs tons of money and has other negative attributes. So, when the plant is done being built and is up and running, will it actually help?
ReplyDeleteI found it really surprising that California only has approximately one year of water left. How have we not heard about this?! We donate water to countries all around the world that are in need, but little did we know that a part of our own country needs it, and we only have a year to fix it. My question is, can California do anything to prevent from running out of water, or get more somehow, or do they need another places help?

ReplyDeleteInterestingly, while people in California have one year of water left, most people are blind to this fact. California is a huge state and produces a lot of products, most processing requires tons of water. As of California factories, what would they chose? Continue their benefits, or, try to help the state get past this drought?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if California has any fundraisers to raise money for there problem. The U.S. has been giving money to many other countries and raises money to help other countries in need, then how come we don't help ourselves first. Do other states help California with their water problems since a lot of food products come from there?
