The exhaust of 33 million people

All around California, people are contributing to the huge problem of pollution and smog.  The geography of California is perfect for air to get trapped from cars and other vehicles putting out exhaust that is slowly killing out the planet.  People need to find ways to take a chunk of there daily amounts of smog by using more public ways to travel to help save the environment.

  1. The problem is that we are using are cars way to much. I believe that we need to start biking more or carpool so that we don't produce so much exhaust. Another solution would to utilize the new breed of cars that have recently been produced by many car companies, the electric car. A car run completely by electricity would have no need for gasoline meaning no exhaust thus reducing pollution. Although we may be using more electricity I believe that it is vital to reduce the smog and pollution in our world, for it is killing the world and us. Smog also causes lung cancer. So if we reduced the price of these electric cars so that they were more accessible to the public, then encouraged people to make the change, I believe this would be a great start to saving the world.

  2. I found it interesting that the geography of a place can effect the pollution in the air. I wonder if our efforts will pay off, or if the condition of the air will keep declining.

  3. I found it interesting that household products like hairspray add to the pollution. I wondered how they can fix this big problem.

  5. I found it interesting that the California geography makes it easier for smog to linger in the air. What causes that? Can we change it? What can we do to prevent this?

    1. I think the reason smog lingers in the air is because of the drier weather and air in California.

  6. I find this very interesting: not only is there a lot of people who add a lot of pollution, but the "topography and its warm climate are good for trapping pollutants. Also most cities are built on plains or in valleys surrounded by mountains. These areas are natural bowls that trap air pollution and prevent the air from circulating." This is a very serious problem and I wondering how someone could help, could we send donations?

  7. I find it interesting how it isn't just man-made machinery that is causing pollution. Warm weather and a sunny climate are the issue as well. I wonder how much "A warm, sunny climate helps form ozone and other air pollutants." I know that pollution isn't just a problem in CA so another thing that I am wondering about is how the pollution in California compares to the pollution in Massachusetts. It is more of an issue?
