Your Food Affects CA's Drought!!

http://graphics.latimes.com/food-water-footprint/

The food that you decide to eat uses a lot of water. By cutting down on eating animal products will help save a large amount of water that could help California's drought. California has been in a drought for a while now and any extra water is necessary for the environment. I think that we should be able to do anything we can to help with the drought, even if that consists of cutting down on animal products.

  1. I am interested how people will react if it is eventually recommended that everyone cuts down of the eating animal products. Because meat is such a large part of many peoples diet, I wonder what people will do to maintain high levels of protein and stay healthy or if there will just be a lack of those nutrients in peoples diets.

  3. Interesting post! One thing that I found was the most interesting is that even though it is California that has the drought, California still depends on farming. And since most of their water goes to agriculture, people in other states, though far away, can help California save water by not buying as many animal products. I hope that this message gets noticed, because I bet most people in other states don't realize that California still mainly relies on farming, and not just Silicon Valley and Apple. I wonder how much water gets used a year (in gallons) on just crops.
