Lassa Fever in the US
Recently the United States Center for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) had confirmed a fatal case of Lassa fever in the United States. The person known to be inhabiting this disease was on his way back to the US form Liberia. It was officially diagnosed on May 25, 2015. Lassa fever is an illness caused by the Lassa virus. Which is a member of the arenavirus family of viruses. Humans can get it from contact with food or household items with rodent excreta, rodent excreta is rodent waste. This disease is deadly and needs to be contained so that it cannot spread. This patient died on May 25th shortly after the doctors identified the problem. Hopefully this virus was contained in the patient, and no more deaths will result from this incident. If more vaccinations are given to people before traveling to different countries then we can minimize the transmission of disease. http://www.who.int/csr/don/28-may-2015-lassa-fever-usa/en/
